- Come into the library and pick up your Teen Summer Reading Tote Bag at the Adult Reference desk.
- Read and/or listen to books this summer! Participants will receive raffle tickets for reading books, for submitting reviews, and for participating in Pearl River Library programs
- How does the prize system work? How will I receive my prize?
We will be awarding prizes every two weeks and at the end of the summer. Winners and participants will be notified by email, and announced on the library’s social media. The winners of the end-of-the-year prizes will also be announced and notified.
Raffle Tickets
There are three ways to gain raffle tickets:
- Reading or listening to books: one raffle ticket per 50 pages, and an additional three raffle tickets if the book is on their school’s summer reading list.
Teen Reading Log Submission Form
- Writing a Lit Crit Review: teens will earn three raffle tickets for each review they submit. There are standard reading questions such as “Would you recommend this literature, why or why not?”
- Participating in Programs: for each program a teen participates in, they will earn a raffle ticket.

Teens Craft: Patriotic Totes

Hey teens! We’re excited to invite you to the library for a fun and creative activity – making patriotic tote bags just in time for the 4th of July celebrations! Not only will these tote bags show off your patriotic spirit, but they’ll also make great beach bags for all your summer adventures.
Remember to bring the tote bag you received when you signed up for our summer reading program. If you don’t have one, no worries – we’ll provide you with a tote bag, art supplies, and snacks.

Summer Water Balloon Battle Royale

Attention parents and teens entering grades 6-12! Join us for exciting summer activities and kick off your summer break with a splash. It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind and release any school-related stress.
The library is hosting a water balloon event at Central Avenue Field, and you’re invited to join in on the excitement. There will be hundreds of eco-friendly water balloons, inflatable barriers to dodge and dive to your heart’s content, delicious Italian ice, and great music to jam out to while you soak up the classic summer vibes. So take advantage of this opportunity to create some unforgettable memories!
The library requests that all participants show their community spirit by helping clean up any mess caused by broken balloons.

YA Anime & Manga Club

Black Light Laser Tag in the Library

Hey, the library’s closed, and the adults (minus Mr. John and a helper) are nowhere to be seen. Wanna take advantage of the space and play some laser tag? We’ll have team and individual rounds, some snacks to munch on, and everyone will get a complimentary neon bandana (they’re rad in black lights!) So invite a friend, and have some after-hours fun at the library!

Outdoor Photography: Unexpected Nature

Hey, do you enjoy taking photos outside? If so, we’d love for you to join our new outdoor teen photography group at the library! You’ll get to explore the beautiful outdoors and develop your unique style of photography. Plus, you can show off your work in the library’s gallery. Each meeting will have a specific theme that’ll challenge you to create a collection of photos based on it.
For our first meeting, we’re focusing on Unexpected Nature. We’ll explore nature in places you wouldn’t expect, like flowers popping up through the sidewalk or spiderwebs in unusual spots.
We’ll meet up in the Teen area before we head out, and we kindly ask that you register for this program. We can’t wait to see you there!
Teen Movie Matinee: Super Mario Bros.

Hey! Grab a couple of your buddies to watch Super Mario Bros. at the library. Bring some cozy stuff like a sleeping bag, blanket, and pillow to settle in and enjoy. A popcorn machine with all the fixings is on-site, so you can munch some delicious snacks while watching.

Teens Craft: Scented Rainbow Soap

Hey there! Wanna come to hang out and make some sweet-smelling rainbow soap? We’ll use essential oils so you can customize your scent however you like. It’s an excellent idea for a birthday present or to treat yourself.
We’ll have all the necessary supplies and some light snacks to munch on.

Comic Book Underground

Join the new club, Comic Book Underground, where teens will enjoy and share their interests and learn how to deconstruct characters, themes, and more from comic lore.
Our first meeting will involve getting to know one another, discussing the state of the MCU, and debating the best new comics of the past few years.

Outdoor Photography: Colorful World

Enjoy being outdoors and taking photos? Then join the library’s new outdoor teen photography group, where you will explore the local outdoors to develop and share your unique photographic vision in the library’s gallery. Each meeting will ask members to create photography collections guided by a topic or theme.
Our second meeting’s theme will be Colorful World. Accordingly, each group member will select a color to highlight in a collection of photos taken outdoors near the library and its surrounding areas.
The group will meet in the Teen area before going outside.

Summer E-Gaming Tournament: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Day One)

Hey there! Want to have some fun this summer? Join us for an exciting e-gaming tournament featuring Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
Indulge in delicious pizza, win some fantastic prizes, and showcase your virtual driving skills in the first part of the tournament. Remember to bring your Switch and gaming accessories, including extra controllers, to make the most of the event.
During the first part of the tournament, players will participate in qualifying rounds with two to four participants racing in an eight-car 150cc circuit (excluding the Special Cup). After that, the top three finishers will move on to the tournament bracket.
To participate in this exciting event, registration is mandatory. Don’t wait; sign up now at the library and get ready to have a blast!
Summer E-Gaming Tournament: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Day Two)
August 24, 2023
2 pm – 5 pm
Join us for part two of the summer e-gaming tournament featuring Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Enjoy some pizza, compete for prizes, and put your virtual driving skills to the final test.
You can hang out and chill with us even if you didn’t make it to the tournament bracket. Bring your Switches and gaming accessories, especially extra controllers!
In this part of the tournament, participants will exclusively compete in a single elimination tourney, with 150cc Special Cup races. The championship race will take place on – of course – Rainbow Road.
