Give Your Child a 1,000-Book Head Start Before Kindergarten
Build a lifelong love of reading, one story at a time.
Imagine your child entering kindergarten confident, curious, and ready to learn. The “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge is a simple, fun, and powerful way to make that happen. By reading just a few books a day, you can reach 1,000 before your child even steps into a classroom.
Why It Matters
Reading aloud to young children is one of the most important things you can do for their development. It helps:
Grow vocabulary and language skills
Improve focus and listening
Spark imagination and creativity
Strengthen parent-child bonding
Build early literacy confidence
Creates learning habits
Why Participate?
Reading difficulties can affect up to 20% of children and impact their academies success. A child’s first give years are crtical for their education, and parents and caregivers are their primary educators during this time. To encourage early reading, the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge was created. The challenge is simple: read any book to your child with the goal of reading 1,000 books before they start kindergarten.
How to Participate?
For Every book you read to your child, mark it off on the log. Once you have read 100 books together, return the log to the library to receive a prize! Then start on your next 100 books and repeat until you have 1,000 book together!
